- September 1, 2018 - Service Upgrades
After many years, exciting changes are in the works for WeatherCity. Upgrades
include serving content via https, server upgrades, unicode support, an improved
forecast system, and an upgraded website. These changes will be rolled out gradually
over the latter half of 2018.
- October 19, 2009 - Data centre move
After a series of outages and poor internet performance, WeatherCity's servers
have been moved to a new data centre. We hope this change results in better
performance and reliability for our visitors.

doesn't provide any significant changes to the website, the forecast now updates many times
faster than before, providing a more timely forecast update.
- March 15, 2008 - Updates and more cities added
After a brief hiatus, we have added a major upgrade to WeatherCity. An additional 9000 US and
3000 Canadian cities have been added. We have also added a precipitation estimate to the forecast.

WeatherCity celebrates it's two year anniversary today.

Many more countries have been added to WeatherCity, bringing the total
to 93. We expect to complete the process of adding all countries
in 2007.

Argentina, Belize, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay have been added.
- July 26, 2006 - Brazil Added
We have added Brazil to WeatherCity, and we will be adding many more locations in the coming weeks and months.

A minor bug affecting the dates and times shown was found and corrected. Daylight savings time changes should now be updated automatically
for all of the locations in WeatherCity.
- December 19, 2005 - Status Report
We performed some minor network maintenance on December 8th that may have resulted in intermitted service interruptions for a few days. An issue
caused by this network maintenance which affected the current conditions for some cities was also corrected today.
- December 8, 2005 - Status Report
Some network mainenance today was the cause of a few minutes of downtime on the site as we moved all of our servers onto a new IP address block.
We apologize for any interruptions in service this may have caused.
- October 25, 2005 - Status Report
The WeatherCity website was switched to the new server today. This upgrade should provide greater reliability and faster
website response times, especially during periods of high load.
- October 6, 2005 - Status Report
We have been running flawlessly since our database server upgrade. A switch on our network was replaced today but there
should have been minimal downtime as a result of this maintance. We are scheduling a web server upgrade for WeatherCity
which should dramatically improve the performance of the website. This upgrade will coincide with an IP address move on
behalf of our provider, but we do not expect any downtime as a result of either change.
- August 7, 2005 - Russia added; Extended Palm Support
In our quest to be mobile compatible, we have begun to add support for Palm based browsers. Currently, support only exists for
WebPro browsers at 320x320 but increasing support for more browsers is on the way.

we have added an additional 229 Canadian cities.
- July 24, 2005 - PDA Version (beta)
We have been working on offering a PDA version of WeatherCity. Although platform support is currently limited, it has been tested
and works well on Windows CE based PPC platforms with screen resolutions of 240x320. We will be adding WAP and SmartPhone support
in the near future. If you wish to try out the PDA version and you have a compatible device, simply browse the website to your
city of choice. If your device is detected you will be shown the PDA version of the page.
- July 21, 2005 - New hardware!
WeatherCity was offline for a couple of hours early this morning while we switched the site over to
our new database server. The new server is much faster and more powerful; as a result WeatherCity can
handle much more traffic than ever before, and the response time of the website has improved considerably.

Today we added Mexico and over 1,400 additional cities within the United States, bringing our total to 1,957 cities worldwide.
- July 1, 2005 - Canada Day
We experienced our first major downtime today as a database corruption issue forced the system offline for
several hours. Eventually the problem was resolved and the whole system is now returning to normal. The
forecasts are starting to run again and everything should be back to normal within 12-24 hours. Our apologies
if this downtime caused any inconvenience. We have a new database server on order which will greatly improve
overall performance, as well as minimize any future downtime; eg, a reoccurance of today's scenario will be
highly unlikely in the future.

in North America shortly.
